Hi Everyone,
A very belated Happy New Year to all of you! :)
Its been a rather uneventful (and enjoyable) two months and I've had a chance to just relax, hang out with friends and family and do the things I wanted to do :)
Rasiya has been on my list since I first heard the song on Meera's audioblog, and I fell in love with the song almost immediately.
I've always wanted to attempt a low range song, but hadn't anticipated just how difficult it would be to hit those lower registers! Here's my take on this very popular number!
Thanks Meera for the k-track!

Feedback as always is most appreciated :)

Kannalane (Bombay)
Hi Everyone,
It's been a really long time since I've uploaded any of my recordings - mostly because of two reasons.
I had a huge musical show (by my team Jashn) staged on July 12, 2009, which, thanks to the Bay Area Audience and the hard work of my 30 member cast, was a tremendous success!
I've also been stuck. I couldn't/didn't record anything that I was satisfied with in the past seven months. But, since I think the mental block is leading to a general recording block, I'm going to finally upload a recording that I've been decently satisfied with.
This song, in my opinion, is one of those everlasting melodies of AR Rahman and Chitra that will never lose its charm. Without further ado, here's my rendition:
Song: Kannalane
Movie: Bombay
Composer: A.R. Rahman
Rendered by: Vidya Venkateswaran (Originally by K.S. Chitra)
P.S. Can anyone give me a hand with mixing? I would really appreciate any tips and tricks. I work primarily with Garage Band, and have a tendency of moving when I sing, so fixing the the volume differences and mixing with the track would probably make my recordings sound much more continuous!

Chalo Tumko Lekar
A wonderful melody from the movie Jism. Most people remember the popular Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai rendered by Shreya, but this one is lesser well known, but prettier in my opinion. It's flirtatious, seductive, innocent and soothing all at the same time. So when I stumbled across the karaoke a few days ago, I couldn't resist the urge to try my voice on it :)
For this one especially, I'd highly recommend listening to it with headphones. The music is absolutely brilliant, but subtle in the instrumentals, so it can be hard to catch otherwise.
Lastly, some people told me that they were having trouble subscribing to this blog, so I've added a new widget on the right hand panel of this blog. It's as easy as entering in your email address and clicking Subscribe! Please do subscribe if you wish to receive updates! All of your suggestions and comments are tremendously helpful and encouraging :)

Malare Mounama
Hi all,
For the past month or so, I've been experimenting with my new condenser mic. It's been a great training tool, and is my biggest critic. I've done a few recordings, but this song is one of my favorites!
I've sung this song along with a good friend & talented singer, Venkatesh. Hope you all enjoy listening to it as much as we did recording it :)
For optimal experience, please wear headphones :D
P.S. I also lead a musical theatrical group called Jashn - check some of our other recordings/songs on our jashn weblog: www.jashn-online.blogspot.com
Song: Malare Mounama
Movie: Karna
Music: Vidyasagar

Please leave comments and subscribe - would love to gain continuous feedback for future songs as well!
